We were lucky enough to have partnered with artist extraordinaire and one of the most colourful people we know, Jess Baker, to create a spectacular piece of abstract art for the ulta3 Christmas collection.

Geelong local Jess Baker has been painting for as long as she can remember. Having grown up surrounded by creativity and nature; she was inspired to teach herself how to paint. Her life journey was expressed through the layers she added on her paintings. Jess’s style is very distinctive, and her art can be categorised as brightly coloured, large, bold and daring, that attracts much attention.

We love what Jess has managed to capture the journey she goes on, when she creates!

Q	When did you start painting and why?
J	I have been painting from a very young age, both my dad and sister are professional artists.
Q	Why is colour so important to you?
J	Colour is important to me as it expresses lots of different feelings and emotions from my day-to-day. For example, the colour yellow is said to promote happiness more than any of the other major colours.
Q	What inspires you?
J	I am inspired by nature and colour; I love the process and the journey of a painting as I add layers of paint.
Q	How would you describe your style?
J	The graffiti and flower styles express an energetic and colourful representation.
Q	What's the most enjoyable part of doing what you do?
J	Everyday is different for me, a new discovery or a new technique or colour combinations. I am filled with motivation and happiness.

Q	Do you remember the first nail polish shade you ever owned?
J	Haha... My nails have been covered in paint for as long as I can remember, but I do love to treat myself to a fun pale pink polish when I’m going out with my family for the weekend.
Q	What can't you live without?
J	My beautiful daughter - Blair, son - Hank and husband - Chad they are my world!
Q	What does Christmas mean to you?
J	My favourite time of year, those familiar smells in the kitchen and the contagious smiles on the faces surrounding you.
Q	What inspires you in choosing the nail polish names?
J	My gorgeous daughter helped me choose the names for the first set. They are the names of her school friends, she has created such a beautiful group of friends. It is so important for girls growing up to have fun, positive, kind girlfriends who lift each other up as they navigate their way through school and life. ❤️ The second set just reflects things that we practice daily, saying thank you, appreciating small and big moments, being happy and grateful for the life we are living and the fun times we have together. Life is for living and loving!
